In the hustle and bustle of travel, it can be hard to keep up with regular dental care habits and keep teeth healthy. This is especially true when it comes to dental hygiene and dental care.

Don’t get into a “tourist trap” of unhealthy eating. Convenience stores, gas stations and airports are full of sugary temptations and the constant snacking that often accompanies travel can lead to high amounts of plaque buildup. Prepare beforehand and pack fruit and vegetable snacks to keep your energy up.

Being on a schedule leaves less time not only for preparing and choosing healthy food, it also can leave less time for regular at-home care. It is important to keep up with proper brushing and flossing, even when outside of your normal routine. Make time at night, or during pit stops, to keep your teeth and gums clean. Also, be especially sure to remind children to brush and floss, just like they would when at home.
