Complete and partial dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replicate the form and function of your missing teeth. Even though they will suffer from tooth decay your dentures will still need daily cleaning and consistent oral hygiene habits.

If you like to secure your complete or partial denture with a little denture adhesive, it will need some additional attention. Should a few food particles invade the base of your denture, you will need to thoroughly rinse the unit clean. You can then reapply more denture adhesive to the dry surface.

Your dentures will also require some simple care and cleaning when you take them out at night. This involves a thorough rinsing under running water and a gentle brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture polish. You should then soak your dentures overnight in water and store them in a safe place.

After you’re done brushing the dentures, you might want to also consider brushing your tongue. A vigorous rinse of antiseptic mouthwash will help remove bacteria and plaque to improve oral hygiene and prevent chronic bad breath problems. If you have a partial denture be sure to brush and floss your remaining teeth.
